Early treatment of musculoskeletal injuries has been shown to result in a quicker resolution of the problem as well as reduce sickness absence and the risk of reoccurrence (HSE Research Report 493, 2006).

Individual companies have differing occupational health service requirements. We offer a flexible physiotherapy service that can provide the correct solution in each case. All our solutions are underpinned by the same five core beliefs:

The service must be evidence – based wherever possible.

The result of occupational physiotherapy intervention must be measurable per patient using validated outcome measures (which have time frames attached).

The result of occupational physiotherapy intervention must be measurable as a service by auditing sickness absence data (with specific reference to musculoskeletal disorders) before and after implementation.

Good communication is fundamental in achieving a successful occupational physiotherapy service.

Understanding the nature of the work and the environment it takes place in is key to providing relevant functional rehabilitation, designed to keep people at work.

In order to achieve the last two core beliefs, we have found an initial site visit can be extremely valuable. This allows us to meet the relevant Human Resources managers and/or line managers with whom we are most likely to be communicating. It also provides us with a better understanding of the working environment and tasks undertaken by the workforce.
